Stephanie Frappart Makes History Once Again
Updated: Jun 3, 2022
Wednesday, December 2, 2020, Stephanie Frappart will add another first to her list. The 36-year-old from France will be the first woman to referee a UEFA Champions League Match. She will oversee Match 5 of 6 in Group G between Juventus vs Dynamo Kiev at Juventus Stadium.

When learned she was going to be the head official for the Super Cup, Stephanie told reporters, “It’s a great honour for me, and for female referees as well,” she said. “I hope it serves as an example to all female referees, and to any young girls who may aspire to be a referee.”

Definitely a memorable day for us Liverpool fans. The link below is the previous blog about Stephanie Frappart’s Super Cup debut.
Stephanie also officiated the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final in Lyon between the United States and the Netherlands when the US secured their fourth World Cup victory. As recently as October she oversaw her first UEFA Europa League match between Zorya Luhansk and Leicester City and several Ligue 1 matches in her Native France.
Like I said in 2019, after all the years of playing, following, and loving this sport, Wednesday will mark another landmark day for the women’s game I fell in love with at four years old.
